Local Councils

The North Carolina Reading Association served twenty-six local councils (chapters or associations) during the 2014-2015 school year. Danna Knight, State Coordinator, and Area Directors work with local councils to support and strengthen their programs.

NCRA’s calendar includes specifics about meetings held by local councils in the state as well as details about state membership, programs and projects. Local councils welcome new members, and members of local councils become members of NCRA, automatically. Membership in NCRA qualifies local reading councils for various training programs and projects, awards and grants, such as the Leadership Conference, Young Authors, Teachers as Readers, Project Grants, Celebrate Literacy, Scholarships, and more.
